Sustainability

At KLOQ, we hold sustainability in high regard and are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint and reducing our impact on the world.

Our clocks are made from materials such as FSC-certified wood and 3D-printed parts, which allow us to produce according to demand so that we do not need to hold large inventories. We work with local suppliers whenever possible who share our values and are committed to sustainable production methods.

As a result, these primarily come from the Netherlands, while other materials and parts are sourced from within Europe to the Netherlands to keep transport-related CO2 emissions as low as possible.

Because we use wood in our products, we also strive to fulfill our responsibility in this area. That is why we plant one tree for every clock sold. We do this with our current partner, Trees.org. At Trees, they plant trees in collaboration with local (Sub-Saharan) communities that benefit greatly from the increased biodiversity, soil fertility, and shade on their fields provided by the trees. The most visible result: parents have the money from the increased yield to give their children the opportunity to go to school, among other things.

3D-printed objects

Our 3D-printed objects are made from PLA. This is made, among other things, from a mixture of lactic acids from corn and sugarcane.
Another advantage of 3D prints is that they are made to order, which eliminates the need for transport and the maintenance of large inventories. Our studio/workshop is also equipped with 12 solar panels to generate green energy for the 3D printers, among other things.

CSR Corporate social responsibility

For us, corporate social responsibility is not only about the environment, but also about people. That is why we work with Houtgenoten, a social woodworking workshop in Nijmegen.

At Houtgenoten, people who are distanced from the labor market are given the opportunity to develop their talents in a safe and stimulating work environment. They expertly process and assemble the wooden parts for our clocks. In this way, our products not only contribute to a beautiful interior, but also to valuable jobs and new opportunities for people.

Design with meaning

By making sustainable choices and working with social partners, we want to show that design can be more than just a beautiful object on the wall.

A KLOQ clock is designed to last, both in quality and in meaning. In this way, every clock not only ticks away the time, but also tells a story of care, craftsmanship, and responsibility.
